Monica Ferrell is a poet and novelist; her second collection of poems will appear in 2018 from Four Way Books. A former Stegner Fellow at Stanford University, she has recently published work in The Baffler, The New Republic, Tin House, the Academy of American Poets Poem-a-Day Project, and many other magazines and anthologies.
Ferrell is the author of three books. Her novel, The Answer Is Always Yes (Dial/Random House, 2008) was named as a Top Ten Debut novel by Booklist. Her first collection of poems, Beasts for the Chase (Sarabande Books, 2008) was selected by Jane Hirshfeld for the Kathryn A, Morton Prize and was a finalist for the Asian American Writers Workshop Prize in Poetry. Her second collection of poems is forthcoming from Four Way Books in 2018. Born in New Delhi, India, she holds a BA from Harvard University and an MFA from Columbia University, and was a Stegner Fellow at Stanford. Ferrell's poems have appeared in The Baffler, Boston Review, Fence, The Nation, The New Republic, The New York Review of Books, Paris Review, Tin House, the Academy of American Poets Poem-a-Day Project, and many other magazines and anthologies. Ferrell lives in Brooklyn. She is a visiting faculty member at Bennington for spring 2018.
