OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | Jennifer Nelson, PhD, Chair & Associate Professor of the John Merck Division of Science and Technology at Southern Vermont College hosts a preliminary discussion and review of fieldwork on the Native Pink Lady Slipper Orchid, Cypripedium acaule. The work represents six years of data collection on individually marked plants. The purpose of this study is to understand the population demography of the orchids, including flowering and seed set. One goal is to understand if it is possible to predict flowering or seed set from what the plant did the previous year. A second goal is to build a structured transition model of the population. Snacks will be served!!
