Senior Concert Week 2018

Jazz, Rock, Folk and Classical music have a major influence on the senior class’ works which are inherently American music genres. American culture, especially in the world of music has a long history of misappropriation and false attribution. Some of our musical influences are obvious in the various covers of Prince and Roberta Flack as well as performances of Wayne Shorter, Robert Muczynski, and Giacomo Puccini compositions. In the original compositions, these influences may be less overt. We acknowledge the various cultural and artistic backgrounds that we draw from, which you will hear in our shows. This week is a culmination of joy, anger, melancholy, frustration, vulnerability in which we’ve felt over our past few years at Bennington. Ultimately, we want you to come and enjoy yourselves at these concerts.
