This March, the New England Journal of Medicine released the results of a study detecting micro- and nanoplastics in the carotid artery plaque of 58% of patients, and found that it measurably increased the risk of heart attack, stroke, and all-cause mortality in those patients. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | Lesley-Ann Dupigny-Giroux, PhD from UVM is this year's Robert H. Woodworth Lecturer in the Sciences. This presentation will explore the latest climate change science coming out of the 2023 National Climate Assessment, as well as the implementation of Vermont’s first ever Climate Action Plan, which was adopted in December 2021

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | In this presentation, Dr. Lesley-Ann Dupigny-Giroux (UVM) will explore the ways in which researching and teaching about climate change concepts and response strategies can be explored with an emphasis on human and geographic vulnerabilities, so that all peoples and ways of knowing are honored and incorporated. Lessons will be drawn from her use of geospatial technologies in formal classroom settings as well as with lifelong learners to make climate change science inclusive and accessible.

Join us for a day of fun celebrating the international student community on campus! We are planning lawn games and activities in Commons, a formal dinner at Dhall, followed by an International Talent Show and Karaoke in Downcaf. Open to the Bennington community.
