Tony Cabasco Appointed Vice President for Enrollment

Today, President Mariko Silver sent the following memo to the Bennington community.

TO: The Bennington Community
FR: Mariko Silver, President

It is my great pleasure to inform you that Tony Cabasco will join the College as Vice President for Enrollment on July 1, 2018.

Tony comes to us from Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA, where he served as Dean of Admission and Financial Aid for more than 13 years. While at Whitman, Tony led the admissions team through a number of record-setting years, including an all-time high for applications in 2017. Under Tony’s leadership, Whitman College enrolled the most diverse class in the college’s history and increased its selectivity and improved the academic profile of its students. Tony also cites among his proudest achievements his success in developing and mentoring admissions staff and supporting them in attaining senior positions in the field of college admissions.

He holds an MA in international studies with an emphasis in Chinese studies from the University of Washington in Seattle and a BA in physics with a minor in mathematics from Whitman College. Tony has also completed training at the Harvard Summer Institute for College Admissions and the College Board Institute on College Admission and School Relations.

Please join me in welcoming Tony to campus and making him feel at home here as he, in turn, prepares to make our future applicants feel at home at Bennington too.

I want to thank the staff, faculty, and students who met with candidates over the past several weeks, as well as those who provided feedback on the finalist presentations. I wish to extend a special thank you to the admissions and financial aid staff as well as to the staff and faculty who participated as part of the search committee. Everyone's efforts during a very busy beginning of term are greatly appreciated.
