Welcome to B-Rad! Bennington debuts new radio station.
The station started with a class in the Fall 2016 term, Is Anybody Out There? Creating Bennington Radio, taught by Thom Loubet. The class was based on the idea of researching every aspect of what it would take to start a radio station, in terms of cost, licensing, and governance.
"The students participated in each step of the process," Loubet said, "they wrote extensive by-laws, and community standards; they held elections for the student board (which is comprised of two station managers, a talk rep, a music rep, a business manager, and a public relations manager) and selected a community advisory board of faculty staff and community members to advise."
The station went live April 1 and now runs 24-hours a day.
