• Preferred filing date; decisions are released on a rolling basis. Applications are accepted until April 30. Please note that applicants who apply by these deadlines will have the most options when choosing fall courses.

You are a first-year applicant if you have not enrolled in a degree-granting program at a college or university after graduating from high school.

You are a transfer applicant if you have enrolled in a degree-granting program at a college or university after graduating from high school, even if you did not complete a program or earn college credit. Transfer students must apply through the Common App for Transfer.

College courses completed while you were still in high school, including dual-enrollment courses, do not make you a transfer applicant.

Bennington College does not accept first-year applications from students who have previously applied and were denied admission. Before re-applying to Bennington, the applicant must complete one year of undergraduate study at another college or university.

If you previously started an application but did not complete it, withdrew your application, or were admitted but did not enroll, contact the Admissions Office at admissions@bennington.edu to confirm the appropriate next step.
