Undergraduate Applicants

First-Year Applicants

If any of the following apply to you, follow the instructions to apply as a first-year student:

  • Currently in high school, even if taking college courses.
  • Participating in a dual-enrollment program, even if you’re earning enough credits for an associate’s degree. (Dual-enrollment means that you are in high school and also in a college-level program.)
  • Graduated with a high school diploma, GED, or high school diploma equivalency test and have not enrolled in a degree-seeking program at a college or university.

Choose either application to apply:

Transfer Applicants

If you have graduated with a high school diploma, GED, or high school diploma equivalency test and if any of the following apply to you, follow the instructions to apply as a transfer student:

  • You are currently or have been enrolled as a degree-seeking student at a college or university that is regionally accredited in the U.S.
  • You are currently or have been enrolled as a degree-seeking student at a college or university outside the U.S. that is nationally recognized by the country's primary accrediting council/agency.
  • You are currently or have been enrolled in a non-degree-seeking program in the U.S. and will have completed 24 semester credits or more by the time you plan to enroll at Bennington College.

If you’re unsure of your degree-seeking status or accreditation of your most recent school, we recommend you contact your school’s registrar’s office. Explore Transferring to Bennington.

Reapplying to Bennington

Bennington College does not accept first-year applications from students who have previously applied and were denied admission. Before re-applying to Bennington, the applicant must complete one year of undergraduate study at another college or university and then apply as a Transfer applicant.

If you previously started an application but did not complete it, withdrew your application, or were admitted but did not enroll, contact the Admissions Office at admissions@bennington.edu to confirm the appropriate next step.
