Mariana Aun is a multi-faceted arts professional, specializing in recording and facilities management within higher education, with accompanying interests in percussion performance, creative entrepreneurship, and community arts initiatives. 


Biography

Aun is a multi-faceted arts professional, specializing in recording and facilities management within higher education, with accompanying interests in percussion performance, creative entrepreneurship, and community arts initiatives. Her career in recording, facilities, and production management began when she joined the faculty of the University of Central Arkansas in 2014. From 2014-2018 she supervised recording activities for the Snow Fine Arts Recital Hall and taught courses as an Adjunct Instructor. In August 2018, she relocated to Houston to become an Assistant Production Manager at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music. At Rice, Aun was responsible for training and managing the school’s sizable student production team and supervising hundreds of events within the school’s multiple venues. An appointment as a Staff Recording Engineer at Shepherd followed in 2019. In 2021, she worked at the University of Texas-El Paso as the department’s Facilities Manager, collaborating with her undergraduate mentor, Professor Stephen Haddad, to manage all aspects of the Department’s events during the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Aun concurrently worked in varying capacities as adjunct faculty at the University of Central Arkansas, the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Hendrix College, Lone Star College-Montgomery, and the University of Texas-El Paso. In 2017, she helped to design and pilot a Bucket Band Program with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, working in collaboration with various afterschool programs in the Little Rock area. Alongside teaching, Aun served as a North American Ambassador for the Royal Northern College of Music from 2013-2019. She also is an active freelance orchestral percussionist, equally at home in a wide variety of solo, chamber, and orchestral settings.
