Rebecca Brooks serves serves on the faculty at Movement Research and is an expert in the Alexander Technique.

Biography

Brooks is an independent dance artist and AmSAT-certified Alexander Technique teacher based in NYC. She maintains a private teaching practice, and is currently on faculty at Movement Research. She has been on faculty at Balance Arts Center, Playwrights Horizons / NYU Tisch, and also has taught at The New School, On The Boards, American Dance Festival, Pieter Performance Space, and elsewhere. Rebecca’s performance work has been presented throughout NYC, most recently at Danspace Project, Movement Research at the Judson Church, ‘Come Together: Surviving Sandy’ at Industry City, Roulette, & NADA New York. Artist residencies include Gibney Dance Center, Mount Tremper Arts, and TIMESHARE. She works as Performance Advisor with both Heather Kravas and Milka Djordjevich. As a performer she has worked with Marina Abramović, luciana achugar, Walter Dundervill, Maria Hassabi, Susan Rethorst, robbinschilds, and many others. Co-curator, MR Festival Fall 2014 & MR Festival Spring 2007; Artistic Director, Rockbridge Artist Exchange (2009-2013), Co-founder, AUNTS. Brooks was a visiting faculty member in drama at Bennington for Spring 2016 and received her MFA in Dance in Spring 2018.
