OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | This talk will explore hybrid identities, multiple self-states, and the psychic and linguistic legacies of dislocation and displacement in the poet's life and work.

Genya Turovskaya was born in Kyiv, Ukraine. She is the author of the poetry collection The Breathing Body of This Thought (Black Square Editions, 2019) and numerous chapbooks. She is the translator of Aleksandr Skidan's Red Shifting and Elena Fanailova's The Russian Version (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2009), which won the University of Rochester’s 2010 Three Percent Award for the Best Translated Book of Poetry. She also cotranslated Arkadii Dragomoshchenko's Endarkenment: Selected Poems (Wesleyan, 2014). The recipient of a Whiting Writers’ Award, she lives in New York City and works as a psychotherapist.
