  • 11:00 AM - 11:25 AM - Welcome Session

  • 11:30 AM - 12:10 PM - Faculty Sessions I:
    • Creating at Bennington: Film & Video
This session will begin with a drone footage tour of the film/video facilities at Bennington College, and will be followed by a discussion with two current student filmmaker/artists. They will speak about developing their work and technical craft within the interdisciplinary, student-focused approach at Bennington. This will be followed by a screening of their recent moving image works, and a brief Q+A. Led by Jen Liu.
    • Creating at Bennington: Introduction to Butoh - Who Are You?
This workshop offers a series of breath, somatic and movement practices that are grounded in butoh-the Japanese avant-garde performing arts form, with an intention of liberating our body from socially pre-conditioned and pre-programmed sense of self. No previous experience in dance or movement practice is required. Led by Mina Nishimura.

  • 12:10 PM - 12:20 PM - Break

  • 12:20 PM - 1:00 PM - Faculty Sessions II:
    • Creating at Bennington: Environmental Science & CAPA Student Panel
This session will feature students studying environmental science, public action, and related interdisciplinary fields who will share what it’s like to study these fields at Bennington. Led by David Bond.
    • Creating at Bennington: Tessellation
Participants in this workshop will get a sense of what we do in a drawing course on Tessellation. Tessellation (space filling or packing) has a wide range of uses from patternmaking and modular design to means of attachment and spatial approximation. We will look closely at images of artworks in which tessellation is deployed practically and metaphorically (often both), create our own tessellating patterns, and hear from students (Grace Muller and Henry Altman) previously enrolled in the full course as they present their work. You will need gridded or plain paper, a pencil, and a good eraser. Led by Farhad Mirza.

  • 1:00 PM - 1:30 PM - House Tour
We will showcase videos of three houses, followed by a Q&A with the tour guides about residence life at Bennington.

  • 1:30 PM - 2:00 PM - Campus Tour
Join our admissions interns for a tour and Q&A about student life and Bennington’s beautiful campus.

  • 10:45 AM - 2:30 PM - Throughout the event
Virtual tables in Airmeet featuring current students, admissions counselors, and financial aid staff will be open throughout the event for visitors to interact with our community members and each other.
