A modern and darkly comedic take on Shakespeare’s “Scottish Play” Macbeth, Peerless follows two Asian-American twins, M and L who care only about two things: academic success and each other. So when D, a one-sixteenth Native American classmate, gets “their shoo-in” spot in The College instead, they begin to strategize on how to get what they think they deserve by any means necessary. They figure they’ve got only one option and it’s bloody! Jiehae Park’s dark comedy is a savage satire on the highly ambitious and cut-throat world of academia, teenagers, pressure and race. Peerless received its world premiere at Yale Rep in 2015 and made The Kilroys’ 2015 List of the best new plays by female playwrights.
