OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | From September 16, 2018, through February 3, 2019, The Museum of Modern Art in New York, NY, presents Judson Dance Theater: The Work Is Never Done exhibition. The show looks at the formative moment in the 1960s when a group of choreographers, visual artists, composers, and filmmakers gathered in Judson Memorial Church, NYC, for a series of workshops that ultimately redefined what counted as dance. The exhibition includes excerpts from interviews with Al Carmines, Steve Paxton, and Carolee Schneemann from the Bennington College Judson Project. The project was created by Wendy Perron ’69, an alum and former faculty, in 1980-82. It included residencies on campus; a new course in creating performance art; an internationally touring exhibit of photos and videotapes accompanied by a catalog; and reconstructions in partnership with Danspace Project in NYC. The College students assisted in performances and in conducting and shooting interviews for the Project interview series.
