OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | Bennington's own mathematics faculty member Andrew McIntyre, Ph.D. will talk about mathematics research he did over his sabbatical last term. He has done work in the past on the relationship of a surface's geometry to its overtones (if it is struck like a bell), and on structure in those overtones. There have been new developments in random surfaces (solving problems proposed in physics), which bring new interest to these old results, and suggest new questions.
