OPEN TO THE PUBLIC |  In honor of Women’s Health Month in May, Beyond Plastics will host a conversation on the effects of plastic on human health and reproduction, featuring:

SHANNA H. SWAN, PH.D.
Shanna H. Swan, Ph.D., is one of the world’s leading environmental and reproductive epidemiologists and a professor of environmental medicine and public health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. An award-winning scientist, her work examines the impact of environmental exposures, including chemicals such as phthalates and Bisphenol A, on men’s and women’s reproductive health and the neurodevelopment of children. Shanna Swan is the author of Count Down: How Our Modern World Is Threatening Sperm Counts, Altering Male and Female Reproductive Health, and Imperiling the Future of the Human Race co-authored by Stacey Colino and published by Scribner in February 2021.

STACEY COLINO
Stacey Colino is an award-winning writer, specializing in science, health, and psychological issues. Her work has appeared in The Washington Post Health and Wellness sections and in dozens of national magazines, including U.S. News & World Report, Prevention, Health, Newsweek, Parents, and many others. She is the co-author, with Shanna Swan, Ph.D., of Count Down: How Our Modern World Is Threatening Sperm Counts, Altering Male and Female Reproductive Development, and Imperiling the Future of the Human Race (Scribner, 2021) and has written or collaborated on a dozen other books.

DR. ANTONIO RAGUSA
Dr. Antonio Ragusa is Director/Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Fatebenefratelli Hospital, Isola Tiberina in Rome. Dr. Ragusa is President of the Confalonieri Ragonese Foundation, where he has coordinated numerous national recommendations promulgated by the three main Italian scientific societies in the gynecological sector (SIGO, AOGOI, AUGUI) in recent years. He was scientific consultant for the Italian Ministry of Health and has published more than one hundred scientific papers and 17 books and/or book chapters on a national and international level. Currently, he mainly deals with perinatal medicine, evaluating new techniques for reducing unnecessary caesarean sections and the consequences of plastic pollution on fetal/neonatal health.
