Earth Day Inaugural OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | Summon, Spring! is a grassroots call to action that aims to activate communities of young people (as well as old!) to contact legislators via letters of poetry, creative writing, visual art, photo, music and other artistic mediums. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | Summon, Spring! is a grassroots call to action that aims to activate communities of young people (as well as old!) to contact legislators via letters of poetry, creative writing, visual art, photo, music and other artistic mediums. For this event we are targeting Governor Phil Scott and Bennington selectman Donald Campbell with letters illustrating the reasons why the plastics bill S.113 (which was just passed back to the House) should be passed in Vermont—banning plastic bags and styrofoam and curtailing the use of plastic straws.

We invite you to join the Bennington College community outside the dining hall and Downcaf to make a letter with us. Feel free to come with materials of your own. Be prepared to bring an experience you've had with plastic in the environment, and translate your dismay into something artistic! All letters sent should contain the words "Summon, Spring" on the back.
