Marc Spitz

Marc Spitz ’92 is a music journalist and playwright based in New York City. Spitz contributed heavily to SPIN magazine for a decade and his writing on rock ‘n’ roll and popular culture has also appeared in Rolling Stone, Maxim, Nylon, Vanity Fair, New York Magazine, TV Guide, and The New York Times. He has written a dozen Off-Off Broadway plays including Shyness is Nice, which was selected and anthologized as one of NY Theatre’s Best Plays of 2001. Spitz is the author of several books, including We Got the Neutron Bomb: The Untold Story of L.A. Punk, Poseur: A Memoir of Downtown New York City, How Soon is Never?, Bowie: A Biography, and JAGGER: Rebel, Rock Star, Rambler, Rogue. He is currently working on a cultural history of rock and roll cinema entitled Loud Pictures and is a weekly culture writer for Salon.com.
