Bennington Commons Receives AIA Honor Award

The renovation of the Bennington College Commons, completed in Fall 2019, has been awarded a 2021 AIA Honor Award by the American Institute of Architects, New York (AIANY).

This juried prize, selected from a highly competitive field of entries, is one of the highest levels of honor awarded as part of AIANY's annual design awards.

Bennington is among only five total recipients of the Honor award this year.

The Bennington Commons has always been an exceptional building, known for both its striking physical characteristics, and for its role as the heart of the Bennington campus—the place where the community comes together to talk, to eat, and to learn from each other.

The spirit of Bennington is infused throughout Commons, and jurors were inspired to see this spirit manifested so vibrantly in Christoff:Finio’s design.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has quieted the building for the moment, the Bennington community looks forward to a time in the near future when we can safely reunite again in Commons and animate its spaces with the sounds of debate, conversation, and laughter.
