COVID-19 Student Update

The following update on COVID-19 was sent to our community from Interim President Isabel Roche.

For more information, please visit our COVID-19 update page

Dear Bennington Community,

I know that there are a lot of questions, and we are working on a fuller update to come, but I wanted to share with you now that the College currently has one student who was evaluated at SVMC and tested for COVID-19 late last night. The student is currently in isolation on campus while we await the result. The Vermont Department of Health (VT DoH) has been consulted. The student’s roommates have been contacted and do not have identifiable risk factors. The isolation room has a private bedroom and bathroom; the student is not attending courses and food is being provided to them.

The testing was done with an abundance of caution and we anticipate a negative result. We expect results by tomorrow and possibly as early as this afternoon. We will share that update when we have it.

There is still one case in Bennington County, which was diagnosed on Saturday. That person has no known connections to the College, and SVMC is monitoring others who have been in touch with that person.

Again, we will be in touch, but I wanted to share this sooner rather than later.

Thank you.
