This academic year, Eliot Wiersma '28 has been covering community news for the Bennington Banner. He recently sampled matcha tea at cafes around Bennington, including alumni-owned Pangaea and Café Briette.

"Have you heard of a type of green tea called Matcha? Maybe friends have told you that it’s delicious. Maybe you’ve wanted to try it, but you’re not sure where to find a good cup. Over the past couple of years, matcha has exploded in popularity in American markets and has become a common item on cafe menus. I tried matcha for the first time about a year ago and was immediately hooked. However, with matcha’s popularity growing, it can be hard to decide where to purchase a quality cup. With this in mind, I set out to try matcha from every cafe that sells it in Bennington. The good news: our town’s cafe-culture is full of delicious matcha!"
