Dr. Caitlin Orner '11 spoke to GM Today about how her training in Dance and Chemistry at Bennington College has influenced her career in orthopedic surgery.

“I went to Bennington to dance; I started out majoring in dance and chemistry,” Dr. Orner told GM Today. “When it was time to make a decision about what I wanted to do with my career and I decided to be a physician, that made the decision about my major.”

For Orner, it seemed a natural path from dance to orthopedics. “A lot of orthopedic surgeons grow up valuing movement; it inspires us to want to help others preserve that part of their life,” she explains. “We want to help our patients stay as active as possible, whatever that means to them,” she says.
