Emma Kast’s work focuses on the history of political economic thought. Her recent research locates notions of deservingness in theories of capitalism.
Biography
Kast studies the global political economy of capitalism and imperialism. She is from Burlington, Vermont. Before coming to Bennington, she lived in Wales, UK where she earned her PhD and MA in International Politics from Aberystwyth University. She also holds a BA in Politics from Ithaca College. Her recent research locates notions of deservingness in the history of political economic thought. Kast was a visiting faculty member at Bennington from Fall 2021-Fall 2022 and returned as recurring visiting faculty since Fall 2024.
