Michael Smoot
Professional printmaker with vast experience in professional fine art print studios and who has studied at the Tamarind Institute
Biography
Michael Smoot completed Tamarind Institute’s Professional Printer Training Program in 2007 and has worked at a number of professional fine art print studios including Atelier Towson, The Experimental Print Institute, Tamarind Institute, and Landfall Press. He has given lectures and demonstrations on printmaking at Towson University, Goucher College, East Carolina University, Southeast Missouri State University, Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, Georgia State University, and Valdosta State University and has assisted with lectures at the University of Maryland, Syracuse University, and the University of Toledo. In addition, he has worked with numerous art-related community organizations in his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland, including Art with a Heart, School 33, and Bright StArts. Smoot was the Technical Instructor in Printmaking at Bennington from Fall 2015 through Spring 2018.
