Alice Perlmutter '83
Alice Perlmutter '83 began her stage managing career at Bennington College when her friend Rita Karl ’82 was directing an extracurricular production of Grease upstairs in Common’s Theater. Alice asked Rita if she needed a choreographer and Rita replied, "No, but I need a stage manager." "What’s that?" Alice asked. She has been stage managing ever since. Alice now stage manages awards shows, special events, and industrials. She has stage managed shows with Prince, Sting, Elvis Costello, Bill Clinton, Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Samantha Bee, Cybil Shepard, Judith Jameson, and Bill Gates to name a few. She wants to give a shout out to her Bennington teacher Patrick McCreary, who passed away two years ago and who always encouraged her. Alice is thrilled that there are several members of that original Bennington Production of Grease involved with this current production of the Bennington 24 hour plays.
