How to Apply
Submission for the annual Academy of American Poets Prize is open to all undergraduate students. The selected Bennington poet will receive an honorarium of $100 and official recognition from The Academy of American Poets.
Submit three of your poems (one per page) as a single Word doc attachment (no PDFs) with Academy of American Poets Prize Submission in the subject line to Michael Dumanis at mdumanis@bennington.edu by midnight on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Please include your name on each poem.
Meet the Judge
Kazim Ali is an acclaimed poet, novelist, and essayist who co-founded the independent press Nightboat Books. His most recent book is Sukun: New and Selected Poems (Wesleyan University Press, 2023) and the memoir Northern Light: Power, Land, and the Memory of Water (Milkweed, 2022). He is a professor in the MFA program at the University of California-San Diego.
