OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | Capsule Gallery Auction is presents “Complicity Loves Company,” a new work by artist Rita Valley '80.
Capsule is located at 618 East Ninth Street in New York. An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, February 9 from 6:00-8:00 pm. Gallery hours will continue Thursdays through Saturdays 12:00-5:00 pm and by appointment. This exhibition is part of an ongoing series focused on emerging artists.
Rita Valley creates beautiful and seditious work with the use of sumptuous fabrics, ornate scripts and lavish gold embellishments. Her inspiration originates at the unlikely intersection of two interests; the current political climate and the sewing of her mother. Like modern-day Samplers, her work commemorates and mourns important passages in the life of our society.
