Mendez-Dorantes Honored for Postdoctoral Research

Carlos Mendez-Dorantes ’15, now a research fellow at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, has received several awards for his postdoctoral research into the investigation of LINE-1 biology in cancer research.

Mendez-Dorantes is a recipient of a Jane Coffin Childs Fellowship Award (2021-2024) for medical research from the Jane Coffin Childs Memorial Fund for Medical Research.

He has also been selected as a 2021 Forbeck Scholar by the William Guy Forbeck Research Foundation for his work on Cancer and Genomic Dark Matter. 

"I have been deeply reflecting on what it means to occupy spaces where people with my background have not occupied before," said Mendez-Dorantes. "I have been reflecting about my Bennington education as well, including working directly with my mentor, Dr. Aime McClellan, which has been instrumental to my scientific training."
