Plain China, Vol. 5

Bennington student editors have released the fifth volume of plain china, the first and only literary anthology showcasing the best undergraduate writing from across the country.

Plain China

This year's anthology features work selected from more than 75 undergraduate literary journals, and includes writers from Boston College, Brown, Dartmouth, Florida State University, Grinnell, NYU, Princeton, Stanford, Swarthmore, Tufts, the University of Iowa, and UC Berkeley, to name a few.

This year’s fiction prize judge is Man Booker Prize winner Lydia Davis; judging for nonfiction is longtime Atlantic editor and NPR commentator Jack Beatty; American Book Award winner Jericho Brown judged for poetry.

Since its inception, the anthology has received almost 50,000 visits from every state and more than 140 countries. A fiction submission from the first volume was selected for publication in The Atlantic; one of last year’s essays appeared in Best American Essays 2013.
