Toktalieva Takes Second Place in Shires Film Festival
Madina Toktalieva '29 earned second place in the inaugural Shires Film Festival, presented by CAT-TV and GNAT, for her animated film “Boorsok.”

"I am happy to represent the beautiful culture of Central Asia through my work," said Toktalieva. "The work itself features the process of preparing Kyrgyz national snack called 'Boorsok.' I wanted to convey the message of seeing beauty in a routine, in simple things that make all of us a little happier."
The Shires One-Minute Film Festival, presented by CAT-TV and GNAT-TV, invited participates from across the Bennington region to submit short films of 60-seconds or less around the theme of "home."
