Interested in Specialized Study?
Bennington offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Creative Writing for students seeking a more focused course of study in poetry or fiction. Hampshire transfer students (including rising seniors) are eligible apply to the BFA in Creative Writing.

What materials do Hampshire students need to apply?
Hampshire students wanting to transfer to Bennington will need to submit their transcripts and the Common Application for the spring semester. The application for the Fall 2026 semester is now closed. Information about the Spring application timeline will be announced at a later date.

Will my credits transfer?
Yes. You will be awarded credit based on the completion of Division requirements, as assessed by your faculty at Hampshire College. For most students, if you have completed Division I, you will receive 30 transfer credits; and if you have completed Division II, you will receive an additional 60 credits. Students that have completed a portion of Division II will receive partial credit according to the work completed. Seniors may transfer up to 90 credits.
However, and in general, each student’s record will be individually evaluated, and students will receive credit for work completed at Hampshire.
Is on-campus housing available at Bennington? What is it like?
Housing is guaranteed at Bennington. Students live not in dorms, but in houses of approximately 30-45 people each. Architectural styles range from modern design to clapboard houses reflecting 1930s New England. Is financial aid still available? If so, how do I apply for financial aid?
Approximately 95 percent of Bennington students receive some financial aid through a combination of grants, scholarships, work, and loans. Students must complete the FAFSA and CSS Profile. Please visit this page for additional information.
