Alfredo MedinaAlfredo Medina, Jr., Ph.D., serves as Vice President for Inclusive Culture and Belonging, and Title IX Coordinator at Bennington College. A strategic thought leader with more than 30 years of experience, Dr. Medina has dedicated his career to advancing equity, inclusion, civic and public engagement, fundraising, risk management, and compliance in higher education and nonprofit sectors.

Before joining Bennington, Dr. Medina held senior leadership roles at the University at Albany, SUNY, as Executive Director of the Office for Public Engagement and Associate Director of the Office for Diversity and Inclusion. He also served as UAlbany Special Adviser for Educational Engagement at the Capital South Campus Center, where he partnered with community organizations, government leaders, and higher education institutions to design a strategic plan to improve the quality of life for South End residents.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Medina held executive positions in the nonprofit sector, including the Urban League of Northeastern New York and the Council of Nonprofits, where he championed social justice and equity for communities of color. He also served as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at Siena College, where he worked to strengthen academic engagement, grant administration, undergraduate research, and institutional effectiveness.

Widely recognized for his community leadership, Dr. Medina has been honored with numerous awards, including the Albany Business Review “40 Under Forty,” the Latino Rising Star Award from the New York Hispanic Coalition, and the Excelsior Award from the Albany Latin Festival Association for his contributions to the Hispanic/Latine community.

Dr. Medina earned his Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Leadership, along with master’s degrees in educational administration and policy studies and in educational psychology and statistics, from the University at Albany, SUNY. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Utica College of Syracuse University and is an alumnus of the Management Development Program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. A proud first-generation Dominican American college graduate from Washington Heights in New York City. Dr. Medina resides in the City of Albany.
