Getting to Bennington

Road Closure Notice

Starting April 13 through the end of the term, the College’s main entrance and the southern end of Matteson Road will be closed.

Passenger vehicles, use this detour:
Take Northside Drive to 7A → Left on Rice Lane → Right on Matteson Road → Left on Harlan Road which connects to Jennings Drive

Vehicles taller than 10 ft, use this detour:
Take Route 7 to the Shaftsbury Exit → Left on 7A  before connecting with Rice Lane

From Vermont Route 279:

  • Take VT Route 279 to VT Route 7
  • Take VT Route 7 North to Exit 2 (Shaftsbury/VT Route 7A)
  • Turn left onto VT 7A South and continue for 0.6 miles
  • Turn right onto Rice Ln and continue for 0.7 miles
  • Turn right onto Matteson Rd and continue for 0.4 miles
  • Turn left onto Harlan Rd and continue for 0.4 miles
  • Turn left at Jennings Rd and then make a right onto College Dr
  • Continue up the hill for 0.1 miles to The Barn, which is a large, red building and the home of Admissions
     

From Vermont Route 7:

  • Take Exit 2 (Shaftsbury/VT Route 7A)
  • Turn left onto VT 7A South and continue for 0.6 miles
  • Turn right onto Rice Ln and continue for 0.7 miles
  • Turn right onto Matteson Rd and continue for 0.4 miles
  • Turn left onto Harlan Rd and continue for 0.4 miles
  • Turn left at Jennings Rd and then make a right onto College Dr
  • Continue up the hill for 0.1 miles to The Barn, which is a large, red building and the home of Admissions
     

From the west via Route 67:

  • In North Bennington turn right onto Main St/VT Route 67A and continue for 0.1 miles
  • Turn left onto Prospect St and continue for 0.3 miles 
  • Prospect St turns into College Ln when you turn left at the top of the hill, continue for 0.7 miles
  • At the stop sign, turn right onto Harlan Rd and continue for 0.2 miles
  • Turn left at Jennings Rd and then make a right onto College Dr
  • Continue up the hill for 0.1 miles to The Barn, which is a large, red building and the home of Admissions
