Davison Scandrett's Lighting and Production Design Recognized in New York Times "Best Dance Performances of 2025"

Dance and Drama Technical Instructor Davison Scandrett was honored to have his work as lighting and production designer for Pastoral mentioned in the recent New York Times list of the "Best Dance Performances of 2025."
The collaboration between choreographer Pam Tanowitz, composer Caroline Shaw, and visual artist Sarah Crowner will have its New York City premiere at Lincoln Center in January 2026 after a critically-acclaimed debut at Bard Summerscape Festival in June 2025.
Davison is proud to have his work represented on several other prominent dance performances in 2026. He is the lighting designer for Open Machine by Rashaun Mitchell + Silas Riener, which will tour to the ICA Boston, Walker Art Center (Minneapolis), and REDCAT (Los Angeles) during the first half of 2026, following its premiere at NYU Skirball Center in September 2025.
Davison was also responsible for implementing the design of Merce Cunningham's 1999 masterwork BIPED for the Lyon Opera Ballet, and the legendary French company will be performing the piece the during their run at New York City Center in February.
Also in February, Trisha Brown Dance Company will present Dancing with Bob: Rauschenberg, Brown, and Cunningham Onstage at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in celebration of visual artist Robert Rauschenberg's 100th birthday. Davison was the consulting production manager for planning the tour and spent three years researching and reconstructing Tantric Geography, Rauschenberg's iconic 1977 visual design for Cunningham's dance, Travelogue.
