Adult students invited to study AI, painting, and writing.

Bennington, VT: Adult students, ages 18 and older, are invited to spend a week at Bennington thinking, making, and doing this summer. Immersive, week-long summer intensives in writing, landscape painting, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are designed for curious learners ready to deepen their practice.

Sessions will be held August 17–21 at Bennington College in Bennington, VT. Students can study Artificial Intelligence, landscape painting, or writing through creatively infused sessions with expert faculty members. All sessions are held in person.

AI, Creativity, & Ethics

Join Darcy Otto, the founding director of the Bennington Center for Artificial Intelligence and Bennington College faculty member in Computer Science, to understand AI beyond the surface and to explore creativity, ethics, and technology. No technical background required. Learn more about AI, Creativity & Ethics.

Landscape Painting

Spend a week painting outdoors, weather permitting, in the hills and fields surrounding Bennington College. This intensive workshop invites artists to slow down, observe carefully, and develop new approaches to landscape painting. Students will develop technique through guided plein air instruction, including demonstrations and group critiques. Learn more about Landscape Painting.

Modern Monsters: Culture, Meaning, and Writing

Enter The Scriptorium and ask: “what do monsters reveal about our culture, our fears, ourselves?” Students will spend a week with writers and scholars Alex Creighton and Camille Guthrie writing, reading, and thinking deeply about the stories we tell and why they matter within Bennington’s bold, original writing culture. Tuition for each course is $1,400 with optional additional fees for room ($550) and board ($450). A $200 early-registration discount is available through May 15, 2026. In addition, Bennington alumni are eligible for a 10% discount. Enrollment is limited. Course completion does not accrue academic credit. Visit the programs page for more information.

BENNINGTON COLLEGE

Bennington College is a leading liberal arts college in southwestern Vermont that has distinguished itself as a vanguard institution within American higher education. It was the first to include the visual and performing arts in a liberal arts education. Bennington students work intensively with faculty to forge individual educational paths around their driving questions and interests. It is the only college that requires its students to complete an internship, known as Field Work Term, every year. Rooted in an abiding faith in the talent, imagination, and responsibility of the individual, Bennington invites students to pursue and shape their own intellectual inquiries and, in doing so, to discover the profound interconnection of things.
