Bennington ACTS
(Achieving Community Through Service)
Organize an arts event, translate at a local health clinic, mentor youth, help build a home, raise awareness on social issues, participate on restorative justice panels, prepare meals, teach a class, or develop a project of your own. Bennington ACTS provides the resources for you to 'burst the bubble' and make meaningful connections and change in the communities surrounding Bennington College. If you have any questions, contact Assistant Director for Student Engagement, Anya Piotrowski at 802-440-4370 or acts@bennington.edu.
Community Engagement Database
Bennington ACTS keeps an up-to-date database of more than 30 organizations in the surrounding communities looking to engage students on a variety of projects and issues. Alongside a description of the organization, the database includes the specific tasks for which the organization is seeking support, contact information, location, and public transportation options through Green Mountain Express. The Community Engagement Database allows you to connect directly with whatever organization, issue, or project appeals to you most.
ACTS Trips
If you're looking for a bit more structure or short-term commitment, Bennington ACTS organizes a number of trips to assist local organizations. Bennington ACTS, for example, organizes bimonthly trips to the Kitchen Cupboard, a local food relief organization, and Second Chance Animal Shelter, an opportunity to socialize cats awaiting adoption. To learn more about past or upcoming trips, check out our Student Events Calendar or email acts@bennington.edu.
Becoming Engaged Series
Bennington ACTS brings to campus community leaders and outside speakers from a variety of organizations, programs, and institutions to connect with students and cultivate collaboration and engagement. Organizations that have come to campus in the past include Hour for Our Community, Meals On Wheels, and Kimberly Farms. Check out the Student Events Calendar or email acts@bennington.edu to find out who is coming to campus soon.
