The Princeton Review Bennington Scores High Marks in 2016 College Ranking

The Princeton Review has released its 2016 rankings of the best colleges in the U.S., and Bennington has been given high marks in a number of categories. The College achieved the #2 spot on the list for “Best Classroom Experience”; it also ranked #2 on the list for “Professors Receive High Marks,” citing Bennington faculty members as some of the most interesting and accessible in top U.S. colleges. Bennington clinched the top spot for “Best College Dorms” and claimed #3 position on a list of “Best College Theater.”

"A Bennington education is an education in the real." These were the words of class speaker Parke Haskell ’15 to her fellow graduates at this year’s commencement. “We don't ask questions that already have answers,” she continued. “We are encouraged to reach beyond the realm of the ascertained, to take risks and leap into the very scary real, where we do not know at all what will happen, where questions only engender more questions, where nothing has a name. This is why I believe that a Bennington education is the most terrifying and gratifying one in the world.”

Today, Bennington College dedicated the Paul Feeley Painting Studio, in honor of the painter who served on the Bennington faculty from 1939 until his death in 1965 and who, in his career as an artist, was a central figure in the U.S. postwar avant-garde.

CAPA Architect Features CAPA

This month's Architect magazine, the journal of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), features Bennington’s Center for the Advancement of Public Action (CAPA), designed by the award-winning architectural team of Tod Williams and Billie Tsien. CAPA, a $20-million complex of three buildings clad in reclaimed Vermont marble, was completed in the summer of 2011. Read more

Bennington College CAPA Upcoming Conference Focuses on Reforming Mass Incarceration

As part of its Incarceration in America Initiative, Bennington College will host a conference, Effecting Change, on May 15-16, 2015. The conference will focus on innovative and effective programs that contribute to reform of the current incarceration and criminal justice system in this country. The conference will take place at the College’s Center for the Advancement of Public Action (CAPA).
