Course Description

Summary

During this course, students will begin to reflect, gather, articulate, and compose their extensive body of professional work in the field of dance by organizing this work into a text that will be bound. The text often takes the form of life writing, grounding life experience in professional artistic, intellectual, and creative pursuits. The portfolio is developed to include a thoughtful and critically developed artist statement,  written narratives of work, press & public reviews, and a list of any grants, honorariums, and/or fellowships. In this way, students will be encouraged to find innovative ways to share their work both online and on paper. There is the opportunity to rethink and reimagine a portfolio in and through individualized research and practices.

Learning Outcomes

  • Students will archive, document, collect and share their research, practice, and creative projects in a multitude of ways.
  • Students will develop innovative and experimental ways to language dance both verbally and in writing.
