Course Description

Summary

Examines cognitive processes including perception, attention, memory, reasoning, and problem-solving. Integrates classical and contemporary learning theories with neurological and genetic research. Uses AI as a comparative case for examining human versus machine cognition, learning, and knowledge representation.

Learning Outcomes

  • Analyze major cognitive processes—including perception, attention, memory, reasoning, and problem-solving—and evaluate their contributions to human learning and behavior.
  • Integrate classical and contemporary learning theories with neurological and genetic research to explain mechanisms underlying cognition, learning, and individual differences.
  • Critically compare human and machine cognition by examining how artificial intelligence represents, acquires, and applies knowledge, and evaluate the implications and limitations of using AI as a model for understanding human cognition and learning.
