Course Description
Summary
This course explores the movement for reproductive justice throughout Latin America since the 1970s, and focuses on the international and interregional cooperation among non-state actors to decriminalize abortion and end violence against women. Topics include reproductive rights versus reproductive justice, obstetric violence, ‘la ola verde’, and post-dictatorship political dynamics. Special emphasis is placed on engaging with the work of scholars and activists from the region.Prerequisites
