Course Description

Summary

This is a studio practice course in Contemporary Ballet technique with explorations into neoclassical and contemporary choreography. The course will focus on Ballet as an evolving form through attention to expressivity, musicality and even improvisation. Cultural influences on the form will be examined in relation to contemporary dance practices. Recognizable warm up exercises begin each class followed by expansive repertory and sequencing as a mode of investigation and research. We will ask ourselves, “how adaptable is ballet?”

Prerequisites

Previous dance experience required.
