Course Description

Summary

This course will utilize Bennington's Piano Lab to explore and develop the skills and knowledge required to effectively play non-classical piano repertoire. Styles covered are: blues, reggae, salsa, bossa-nova and jazz. Students will take turns learning and playing bass lines, chord voicings, stylistic rhythms, melodies and improvised solos. Corequisites: Must participate in Music Workshop (Tuesday, 6:30 - 8pm).

Prerequisites

Piano skills and adequate knowledge of music theory. Audition and/or permission of the instructor. Email bwilliamson@bennington.edu to schedule an audition time.
