Course Description

Summary

Experience the infectious energy of Brazilian percussion! Designed as a welcoming and relaxed space, this course invites you to step away from academic stress and into the collective pocket of the groove. Together, we will explore the foundational rhythms of samba, learning to listen, react, and play as a unified community.

Students will get hands-on experience with authentic Afro-Brazilian instruments, including the deep thrum of the surdo drums, the sharp crack of the tamborim, the rhythmic crunch of the chocalho shakers, and the call-and-response patterns of the agogô bells. No musical background or rhythm reading skills are required—we will learn traditionally through call, response, and physical memory. Come ready to move, make some noise, and experience the pure joy of making music together.
