Femme Film
Course Description
Summary
In his re-interpretation of psychoanalytic structures, Jacques Lacan described the feminine position not as a gender or an identity but as a form of “jouissance”, a word that is related to enjoyment, but in his use is more akin “getting off on”. This feminine jouissance is available to any subject regardless of gender. According to this proposition, the feminine position may be understood as a “not-all”, a non-phallogocentric, near rebellious and dissident form of pleasure. In this intensive seminar we will consider the possibility of cinematic forms arising from this feminine position.
This course is an intensive 1st module only film seminar.
The course meets on Tuesday 2:10 to 5:50 for lecture and discussion and on M/Thu 7:00pm to 8:50 for screenings and discussion
