Course Description

Summary

This course is for students who have already taken an audio mixing course at Bennington. We explore the art and science of mixing and producing audio for both emergent immersive formats and traditional legacy platforms.

Through critical listening, presentation and critique, and project-focused learning, students will develop the skills to create dynamic, emotionally engaging mixes across a variety of playback systems. Topics include immersive sound design, spatial placement, downmixing strategies, format translation, and maintaining artistic intent across multiple listening environments.

Lots of mixing practice across many hours is required beyond the ideas and techniques presented.
