Course System Home Terms Fall 2026 Movement Practice: Stretching and Conditioning

Course Description

Summary

This course is open to students at all levels of experience with body conditioning and/or dance. Class sessions will be approached as a form of exercise as well as a way to recover from injuries, misuse, excess or lack of physical activity. Incorporating tools and exercises from various physical practice modalities, including yoga, Pilates, somatic work and functional anatomy, we will gain a knowledge of basic anatomical principles and learn to strengthen and care for our bodies. We will also increase our awareness on how to avoid injury for those that are dancing regularly or involved in other physically rigorous practices. Occasionally these principles will be applied to simple dance and movement forms throughout the course.
