Resonant Bodies: Advanced Movement, Voice, Text
Course Description
Summary
An advanced studio-laboratory where nuanced movement, voice, and writing operate as one unstable system. The body is approached as a resonant instrument, with voice and text emerging as somatic extensions of the moving body.
Through rigorous physical training, breath work, sonic activation, non-verbal vocalization, and writing generated from lived sensation, we investigate the space where language breaks, sound carries structure, and motion thinks. Technique, improvisation, and score-based practices cultivate awareness, precision, risk, and endurance.
The course supports the development of a distinct embodied research practice grounded in resonance, transmission, and the production of meaning.
Video viewings and brief readings will take place outside of class time. Students will also develop short individual and group performance studies based on the practices explored in class.
