Course Description

Summary

This class is anchored by students' independent research projects in the field of anthropology. The seminar may be taken either as a one-off or in conjunction with the Fall seminar, "Ethnography Lab." In this class, students will develop their research and writing in anthropology, working through description, contextualization, analysis and engagement with scholarship. This seminar will be a venue for some to write their SCT Advanced Work/Senior Thesis. For others, this will be a forum to develop their ongoing or future research.

  • Develop thick descriptions of ethnographic data
  • Determine relevant and clarifying context to ethnographic data
  • Analyze ethnographic data
  • Formulate how analysis of ethnographic data relates to existing scholarship
  • Summarize one’s ethnography
