Technical Theatre Collaborating with Advanced Design
Course Description
Summary
Working in conjunction with Advanced Design and Collaboration students will be invited to join a design orientated devised performance as part of the technical team building and creating the shows When theater starts with a script, visuals tend to follow the narrative. But what happens when bold visuals lead the way? Class will be used as a space to build on existing technical skills such as: programming, queuing a show, supporting the collaborative process, learning the production process and how the sound, light, costumes and scenic departments intersect. The majority of class time will be dedicated to presentations, hands on learning and working toward three realized productions. Homework will be a combination of journal based reflections and participating in technical rehearsals for three different devised pieces. Students will get to refine their technical theatre skills over the course of the three productions working in different areas to make these shows ready for live performance. Students need to be available in April/May for: -three afternoon tech sessions on Saturdays -three evening tech sessions mid week. -three Saturday eve performances **PLEASE NOTE: this is not a design course but a nuts and bolts production class.Prerequisites
