Course Description

Summary

Spectatorship as Research: After attending performances of the Montpellier Danse Festival, the focus of each seminar is group discussion. Our task is to unpack, connect, reimagine, and think critically as well as creatively about our experiences of “audiencing” and engaging with artworks. We aim to enlist the group’s shared knowledge as we engage generously, even experimentally, with international artists’ creations at the festival.

  • learn to develop innovative and experimental ways to language dance both verbally and in writing.

  • hone critical thinking skills while viewing performance
  • Close read a dance work
